With “The Praise of Hands” we could almost say it’s a double praise. On one hand it’s a praise in itself to
hands, but it’s also a way of giving importance and gratitude to “Eloge de la main” by Henri Focillon, which
has deeply inspired me. The hand never stops being an artist’s personal and individual tool, and with it to
paint it I’m communicating my identity as an artist, while also identifying myself as someone distinctive
with an unusual talent.
Perhaps any artist that paints their hands asks themselves if they’re painting their own hands or if they are
simply the vessel carrying the Voice of a foreign creator that lives through us.
The hands take initiative over the unconscious side of our minds.
